| Northleach Sunday Rams V Northleach FC - 4th
September 2005
This match had it all, 572 runs, two
hundreds, a nasty beamer and a blonde wig which was mainly worn by
Stuart Goodall to hide his thinning thatch.
The football club put out a very strong team with five Northleach
cc first team players including master blaster G Crompton, Chris
Mooney and J Robson from Great Rissington. The Sunday Rams had the
return of the silver fox dad Gardner to bolster the ranks.
After winning the toss the football club put the Rams bowling to
the sword piling up 300 runs for 6 wickets with C Mooney making a
undefeated 101 and G Crompton making 77 not out with 5 huge sixes.
This looked like a daunting task but after a good start (D Hall 31)
TGardner came to the Crease and with G Harris (27) they put on a 100
Run partnership. With help from the tail J Stevens ( 10 no) T
Gardner passed 100 Runs. Needing 36 from 3 overs a win was in sight,
but after a head high beamer from G Brett Lee Hulcup Which took
Gardner's head nearly of, Gardner was out next over to the bowling
of L Smith for 119 which finished the rams chance of winning
finishing up on 272-9.Next season T Gardner steps down from first
team duty to lead his Sunday troops on a tour of the Cirencester
division 3 for the first time.
