Northleach Town 2nd X1 suffered a
seven-wicket defeat to the hands Avening & Cherington on
Saturday. Northleach decided to bat on a very warm humid
day, and it was Avening who made the most of the over
head conditions by bowling out Northleach for 86 with
some tight swing bowling. Only T Gardner put up any
resistance with the bat scoring 30. All the Avening
bowlers bowled really well with D Pitcher picking up
5-19 from his seven overs. This was never going to be a
enough runs on a fast scoring out field and Avening got
to there total losing three wickets on the way with D
Hall picking up two of them. M Pierce finished on 35 not
out .Northleach dropped two catches of T Gardner's
bowling which you can't do when defending just a small
total. In all this was a very bad day for the Northleach
players has they know they can bat and field much better
than this, and hope to do this against Tetbury next
Saturday. |
