After being asked to bat first on a slow, low wicket the
Northleach batsmen were soon scoring at 5 runs per over,
with skipper Tony Gardner taking the lead (27) before
both openers fell to a short but effective spell from
veteran Phil Carter (2 for 24). Adam Tarrant (37) and
Richard Hall (54) soon steadied the ship with a
partnership of 73, and set the Rams on their way to
another large total with Dickie Hemming (22) and Flammy
Wellman (19 no) reaching a 247 for 7 after 40 overs,
with Brian Woodcock taking 3 for 32.
The home side were never in the chase as only 3 batsmen
reached double figures, S Harris top-scoring with 26,
allowing the irrepressible Dan Binding to take 4 for 13
from his 9 over spell. The Northleach captain allowed
some of his younger bowlers to take the ball and Chris
Tapsell showed great promise from his 5 overs before Tom
Hemming (U14) finished off the innings with a stunning 3
for 3 from only 2 overs! |
