The Rams entertained their first home crowd of the
season against a weakened Malmesbury side with a fine
win by 242 runs.
On a warm afternoon the home captain, Tony Gardner,
elected to bat first and made a significant contribution
of 106 runs in his team's total of 266 for 5 from their
40 overs. Richard Hall played a great supporting knock
of 45, but the batting star of the day has to be young
Tom Hemming who, at 13 years of age, racked up an
unbeaten 73 off just 69 balls and played shots to all
parts of the ground collecting 9 boundaries along the
way.
The Malmesbury reply never got going, with Darren Hall
(2 for 16) and Dan Binding (4 for 7) wrapping up the
away batting in short time.
A sound victory for Northleach Town, collecting maximum
points, and are looking forward to a trip to Tetbury
next weekend. |
